Dear Two River School District Parents and Patrons:

The Two Rivers School District is aware of the ongoing concern regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and is following guidelines of the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Education.

What We Know Today:

With Arkansas having one (1) presumptive case (an individual traveling to another state), it is important we take appropriate action now so that if there were to be a case locally we would know how to minimize the possibility that it might spread.

What We Are Doing:

We have always taken the cleanliness of our buildings seriously. We regularly clean classrooms, restrooms, corridors, and all other areas where staff and students learn and work. This includes floors, tables, drinking fountains, doors, and all areas students come in contact with. During the flu season, we increase the intensity and frequency of this cleaning. We utilize three “fogging” machines that are used regularly in all classrooms and designed to assist in the elimination of such viruses.

What We Are Preparing To Do:

If COVID-19 is to become present in our district, we will follow the advice and direction of the Federal and Arkansas authorities and experts as to the best course of action. The Secretary of Health, in consultation with the Secretary of Education, shall have sole authority to close public school campuses throughout the state for reasons related to COVID-19. If this were to include the temporary closing of school, the Two Rivers School District would utilize AMI days approved by the Arkansas Department of Education to continue the educating of our students.

What Can You Do (Share With Students):

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Try not to touch your eyes or your face.
  • If you cough or sneeze, do so into your elbow, not your hands.
  • Avoid contact with individuals who are sick.
  • If you are sick, STAY HOME.
  • With Spring Break right around the corner (March 21-29), please be extra cautious. If you are traveling outside of Arkansas or outside of the United States, be sure you avoid contact with individuals who exhibit the following symptoms: fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If at all possible, avoid out-of-state travel.

The safety and wellbeing of students and staff is our number one priority. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me or your principal.

Thank you,

Michael Dean
