August 13, 2020

Dear Parents and Students,

We are so excited to get back to school on Monday, August 24, 2020! We wanted to take a moment to try to paint a picture of what our first day at school will look like and answer some of your questions.

Buses will run all of the normal routes. All students (K-12) will be required to wear a mask on the bus. This is a CDC requirement.  We encourage parents, who are able, to transport their children through the car rider line to help with social distancing.

Buildings will open at 7:30 when faculty and staff are on-site. Please do not drop your student off before the appropriate duty teachers are stationed around the campus. We want to keep all of our students safe.

When entering the building, all students 10 and over will be required to wear a mask. Students nine and under will be encouraged to wear one. Your child is welcome to wear a mask from home they are comfortable with or that you prefer, but we will supply them with one if they do not have one on. They will get one washable and disposable masks, as needed. These masks will be worn throughout the day when social distancing is not possible.

Unfortunately, due to CDC guidelines, parents or other adults (excluding school personnel) will not be permitted inside the buildings to walk students to class or have lunch with them. There will be duty teachers stationed to welcome and assist the students. 5th and 6th Grade students will be reporting directly to the auditorium. Their teachers will be in the cafeteria and auditorium to make sure they know where to go.

Parents are encouraged to screen temperatures before children leave the house. All students will have temperatures taken during first period  and if found to have a temperature of 100.5 or higher, parents will be contacted to come get them. Protocol is in place to limit exposure of other students or adults in the building, but discretion and confidentiality are also very important. We would never want a student to feel singled out and are taking measures to prevent this.

Throughout the day, there will be continuous and intensive cleaning throughout the buildings, especially as students transition from one area to another  and between classes. Students will always have access to hand sanitizer. Social distancing will be monitored and repeatedly encouraged.

Traditional water fountains will not be in use, bottle filling stations are in each building. We encourage students to bring a bottle from home, but will provide students with whatever they need if these are forgotten. Students may still bring backpacks and lunches from home, but outside lunches, being dropped off for students during the day, is not an option currently.

For parents who have chosen to keep students home to complete assignments, there will be a breakfast/lunch pickup from 10:00-10:30 daily.

Important dates to mark in your calendar:

Wednesday, August 19, 2020: Grades 7-12 Schedule Pick Up

This will occur from 9:00 until 2:00 in front of the high school in a drive through line. Please do not allow anyone out of the vehicle. There will be further directions attached to the schedule about how to make changes. These changes will not occur during this drive through pick up time.

Elementary (K-6) staff are phoning parents with homeroom assignments. These students will not need to pick up a schedule.

Thursday, August 20, 2020: Grades 1-12 Option 2 (Blended Learning) Chromebook Pick Up

This will occur from 8:00 until 3:00 in front of the high school in a drive through line. Please do not allow anyone out of the vehicle. This is only for students who are planning to do all school work from home and not attend the first day of school on August 24. If a student chose blended, but plans on attending the first day, chromebooks will be issued during the school day. Parents will have to sign a computer use policy to receive these computers.

Monday, August 24, 2020: First Day of School

We want our parents, students, and staff  to feel as comfortable as possible within CDC guidelines. We will go through procedures and gently remind students of guidelines as long as necessary. Regulations change daily during these uncertain times and Two Rivers is making it a priority to adjust, as needed, and get that information to you. Everyone is  traveling uncharted territory, but one of our biggest goals is to be a safe place for our students. We have missed them and our families so much. We can not wait to see everyone!

Go Gators!
