Two Rivers School District Covid-19 Update

The Two Rivers School District is continuously reviewing the state’s guidelines and suggestions for returning to school this fall. We are in the process of finalizing our district’s plan for the 2020-21 school year. We know there are many factors to consider as we begin this next school year. We want to provide our families with the important information you need to plan and make decisions, but also don’t want to overload you with too much information at one time, especially when circumstances with COVID-19 in our community could still change. We are committed to helping each student reach his or her full potential. Personalized learning has been and will continue to be our focus. We look forward to partnering with each of you in the creation of a culture focused on caring and safety as we navigate this new educational landscape together. The health, safety, and well-being of each student, teacher, and support staff member is paramount.

The 2020-21 school year will begin on Thursday August 13th. Students and teachers will come to school for on-site instruction. Health and safety measures currently recommended for the general public- like physical/social distancing, proper hand-washing hygiene and extra hand sanitizing opportunities, and wearing facial coverings will be strongly recommended for students and staff. Our teachers will use what is called a “blended model of instruction,” where digital learning is incorporated for all students within the regular classroom. This model ensures that in the event of a COVID closure this fall, your child’s education can and will continue in the same manner. For parents who wish to have their child remain at home for the fall semester, Two Rivers will offer a virtual learning option. Virtual enrollment will mean students learn exclusively through our online platform. Our district curriculum team is working hard to design our virtual lessons to be as interactive and user-friendly as possible for both our parents and students.

Any student enrolled at Two Rivers through onsite or at home virtual learning will have the opportunity to participate in athletics if they meet all requirements. The Arkansas Activities Association released a statement that students newly enrolled in homeschool this coming year will not be allowed to participate in athletics for one year.

Thank you for your patience during this unusual time in our world. We are looking forward to the 2020-21 school year and regardless of what it may look like-we will be ready to serve and teach our students. We will update you again when we have more guidance.
